What is SCORE?

SCORE is a nationwide, nonprofit organization of experienced business people who volunteer their time to help small and start-up businesses succeed. The volunteer staff at SCORE provide counseling assistance to small businesses with needs such as:

  • Business plan development

  • Business structure, licensing requirements

  • Financial analysis: Profit and loss statements, cash flow planning and accounting

  • Marketing and sales planning

  • Human resources and productivity management.

The Santa Cruz SCORE Chapter provides these services via counseling sessions at the Capitola Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, SCORE volunteers present seminars and workshops at the SCORE headquarters.
